Rules
- Kindness Counts. Be kind and respectful to all students and teachers in the art room.
- Do not speak unkindly about one another.
- No vulgar or inappropriate language at all; it will not be tolerated.
- Listen to other peoples’ opinions, even if you don’t agree with them.
- No bullying at all.
- Be part of our learning environment.
- No talking when the teachers is giving directions.
- Participate during class discussions. I want to know what you think.
- While you are working on your art projects, speak in soft voices so you do not distract others.
- Use art materials correctly. Be Responsible.
- Pencils, paint brushes, rulers and other art materials are for everyone’s use and should be returned in the same condition as they were found.
- No Cell phones! For any reason.
- If you cannot keep your phone in your locker or in your pocket, it will be confiscated and given to the office.
- Have fun, it is your time to be creative.
- Ask for help when you need it. Check with your fellow classmates as well as the teacher to answer your questions.
Things to Know
- Attendance – Class will start on time and students are expected to be ready to learn when the bell rings. Personal responsibility includes punctuality.
- Grading- Before each lesson begins, students will be given the grading criteria for the assignment. The following expectations will be part of the criteria for every assignment- Use of Elements of art and Principles of design, Creativity, expression, and originality, Classroom Ethics and effort, and last craftsmanship.
- Grading Scale – A (100- 90) B (89-80) C (79- 70) D (69-65) F (64 or below).
- Class time must be spent working on art assignments, not for personal use. Student are expected to work the entire period.
- Project Completion- Each project will have a due date. All late work, due to no class participation, will receive a 5 point per day reduction, after 4 days late, project grade will be worth a maximum grade of 75%. It is essential that assignments are completed during class time. Students will need to finish late projects on their own time (homework, academic Prep, lunchtime or after school).
- Absences- if student is absent for a due date, arrangements must be made the day the student returns to school.
- If you have an excused absence(s) you will be allowed to stay after, or come in during free time to complete your project. Any unexcused absences, causing projects to be incomplete, will result in a low grade.
- Supplies Needed- A Pencil with an eraser
- Art folders - Students will keep their work in their art folders. At the end of the school year, students will take them home.
- School rules and policies apply in the art room.
- Failure to follow these rules will result as follows:
- 1st Consequence: Warning
- 2nd Consequence: Phone call home/Email
- 3rd Consequence: Removal from Classroom /Meeting request with parents, student, teacher and Counselor
- 4th Consequence: Principal meeting with student, teacher and parents to discuss alternate placement
